Animalkind Resources Guide

Resources are the lifeblood of Animalkind. Every tool you craft, every structure you raise, and every villager you house — it all starts with knowing where to look and what to bring. This guide covers every resource category and where to find them.

1. Resource Categories

Resources fall into three tiers of rarity:

Basic Materials

Found everywhere in the starting zone. No special tools required.

Ores & Minerals

Found in caves and harder biomes. Requires a Pickaxe to mine.

Rare & Special

Found in dangerous late-game biomes. Used for endgame content.

2. Gathering Methods

Chopping Wood

Equip an axe and approach any tree. Hold the attack button to fell it. Different tree species yield different wood types — hardwood trees are found in Snowy Peaks.

Tool: Axe

Mining Stone & Ore

Equip a pickaxe and hit rocks or ore veins. Larger veins yield more drops per swing. Always bring a pickaxe one tier above the ore you're targeting.

Tool: Pickaxe

Foraging

Walk near bushes, ground patches, and cave floors to pick up plant fiber, berries, mushrooms, and clay. No tools needed — just keep your eyes on the ground.

Tool: None

Looting Chests

Hidden chests in Ancient Ruins contain rare quest items and artifacts. Approach them and interact to open. Some require a key dropped by nearby enemies.

Tool: None (combat may be required)

Pro Tip: Explore Different Biomes

Each biome has its own unique resources — and some resources are easier to find in unexpected biomes. Check our Biomes Guide for a full breakdown of what every zone has to offer.

3. Gathering Tips

Bring double the food you think you need

Exploration drains stamina faster than you expect, especially in extreme biomes.

Mark ore veins on your map

Ore veins in caves respawn slowly. Pinning them saves repeat trips.

Upgrade your pickaxe before mining harder ores

A higher-tier pickaxe mines faster and can access ore that lower tiers cannot.

Check every biome at least once early

Some resources look one place but are easier found in another biome entirely.

Carry a torch in caves

Mobs spawn in unlit cave sections. A torch or Glowshroom prevents surprise encounters.
